The Bobbitt Family

Thanks to Gavin who collected books for us at his 6th birthday party.  These books are being donated to Happy Hollow Elementary School in Fayetteville at Gavin’s request.  The books you collected are really beautiful– my kids checked them out before we sent them.  Hope your schoolmates enjoy them.  Cameron is smiling down on you from Heaven!

We have been so blessed that several children have decided to collect books for the book club at their birthday parties!  This is such a great way for the kids to get involved and learn the joy of giving.  I know they love helping pick out books they have read or would like to read.  We have received some really beautiful books lately!

Thanks to Anna, Sophie, Riley, Emma, and Andres for helping remember Cameron on your birthday!  It really means a lot to our family and your books will make a difference in children’s lives.  Keep up the great work!

Thanks to the support and prayers of our friends and family, we made it through the 2nd anniversary of Cameron’s death.  We heard from lots of people, and had a nice group over on Saturday.  My dad offered some thoughts to us, though there is no way to accept or process what happened to Cameron.  Her death was, and continues to be, so unfair.  She was such an asset to this planet.  She left too soon.  And we suffer at the loss of her.  But we continue on in our lives.  I am grateful to be able to do that.  It is never easy, but it is so important to keep going.  The example we set for our children and for others is critical.  It is only through the spirit of Cameron guiding me, that I am able to be that person.

We had a very successful book drive these past 2 weeks here in North West Arkansas.  We received well over 200 books.  Its neat to see all the different books that are donated.  We get a great variety.  We will continue to send these books to needy children.  What an honor and blessing!

Our friend Bo Mattingly graciously volunteered to run a public service announcement on his sports radio show– Sports Rap.  I think it turned out just beautiful!  I hope you’ll take a moment to listen to it by clicking the link at the top right of the page.  Thanks Bo!  And thanks, Scott for all the work you do on the website!

Cameron’s Memorial Fund continues to grow.  We have received donations from the Wingert famiily in Franklin, TN and Dr. Tim Carr from Franklin, TN; Susan Berry from McAlester, OK; and Lisa Garvin from Jackson, MS.    The fund is now an endowment  and we will be able to donate from the fund to children’s charities in the future.  Please let us know if you have a favorite children’s charity to which we we can consider contributing!

Thank you to John Richard from Greenwood, MS for your recent donation to the Cameron Averitt Bobbitt Memorial fund.  This fund makes charitable donations to nonprofit organizations that benefit children and families.  If you have a charity that you support with this type of purpose, let us know!  We would love to hear about ways we can help more children!

We recently received a donation of books from the Weller family in Fayetteville, AR the Harmon family from Fayetteville, AR, the Gale family from Florida, and the Manasco family in Mississippi.  Thank you so very much!  We will put these books in the hands of needy children!

On Tuesday I went to a Community Clinic in Springdale, AR that provides medical care for the underserved.  It is a ministry of the St. Francis House.  I took quite a few books.  This clinic really encourages reading to young children.  About 1/2 of the patients are Hispanic, so if anyone wants to donate books for small children in Spanish that would be great!  Keep those books coming.
